In just ten years, the Woodstock Film Festival has assembled a who's who of the indie film industry that any major regional event would be proud of. Early on, the festival attracted the best films from Toronto (which ends just as Woodstock is picking up steam), including Todd Haynes' Far From Heaven, and last year it premiered in the United States.
The Woodstock Film Festival has established itself on the US festival scene as an impressive regional event, attracting important independent industry executives and stars alike. That looks set to continue with the festival's annual Trailblazer Award (which goes to an industry veteran) and the Honorary Maverick Award (which goes to a director or actor and which Reeves won last year), likely ensuring the continued presence of some of the film world's power brokers.
