Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg told Rolling Stone that she built Jessica Jones to be a complex heroine in the tradition of television anti-heroes. The comparison with Tony Soprano concerned primarily a woman’s right to be traumatized, contradictory and not always pleasant for the viewer.
