Last week, a retired NYPD hero named Arthur Davis flew into New York from Murphy and had a .25 caliber bullet removed from his stomach. The bullet had been in his body since Oct. 26, 1970, when a robbery suspect shot him to death in East Flatbush. After surgeons at Lutheran Medical Center removed the bullet, Davis' Brooklyn friend Mike Sullivan drove him to John Paradiso's Bowery jewelry store.
Here, Davis commissioned a black gold-plated bullet, attaching it to a new case and outfitting it with a 14-karat Gucci chain. “When I told Paradiso what I was doing with him, he didn’t take a dime,” Davis said. Sullivan later drove Davis through the Holland Tunnel to a rendezvous in a Jersey City cemetery where a scene from "The Sopranos" was filmed.
