There are few cinematic events in the US where audiences can stand face to face with Gwyneth Paltrow one moment and witness a sculptural video installation featuring bus stop TVs the next. Such is the Sundance Film Festival, the organizers of which today announced the lineups for other thematic sections of the event: from the vibrant “Premiere” and the exciting “Spectrum” to the cult “Midnight” and the avant-garde “New Frontier” section.
As previously announced, the Park City festival will open with Brett Morgen's "Chicago 10," a documentary about the 1968 anti-war protest and subsequent trials. Meanwhile, the Salt Lake City gala opens with Sarah Polley's feature debut and recent Toronto favorite Away From Her. The official closing act of the festival will be Nelson George's HBO Films "Life Support," in which Queen Latifah plays a drug-addicted mother who turns her life around and becomes an AIDS activist.
