The last time I saw Nancy Marchant, who died on Sunday, January 5, was at the Ziegfeld Theater at HBO's extravaganza in honor of the second season of The Sopranos.
Gandolfini knew that a chronic lung problem sometimes made it difficult for Marchand to breathe enough to say his words. Indeed, among Marchand's constant companions that night was a steel oxygen tank on wheels, with a plastic tube attached to its dispensing valve to supply additional air when needed.
