On the high note, “The Sopranos” sounded more like Altos this year. Not many HBO series have made it into the top tier, and on this side of the screen it feels like they don't get to them as often. Now we say this partly because we are spoiled.
We compare all scenarios to the Pinelands episode. We measure all disagreements by the head of Ralph Cifaretto. However, this season has been uneven by any measure. The theme was family, and on television, as in life, we can get too much of that.
