James Cameron explained the length of The Way of Water using the example of the Soprano family

The running time of Avatar: The Way of Water was about three hours and ten minutes, almost equal to Titanic. Cameron explained the extra minutes by saying that the sequel would delve deeper into emotions and should give room to a significantly larger number of characters.
