After 16 long months of anticipation—and a media frenzy that could rival the Super Bowl—The Sopranos mania finally reached a fever pitch last night. The much-hyped fourth season premiere of the hit HBO series, which chronicles the lives of a fictional New Jersey mafia family, has taken over TV screens from Little Italy to Clifton, North Carolina.
"I'm making this ziti, baby," said (The Sopranos Sue) Sadiq of Clifton, a superfan who stocked up on cannoli in preparation for the premiere. "It's like Christmas for 'The Sopranos' fans...it'll be worth the wait." How big of a fan is Sadiq? She bought the cannoli at Ferrara's Patisserie in Newark, the bakery where Tony bought macaroons for his mother in an episode of The Sopranos.
