As they do every year, the less fortunate flocked to soup kitchens across the city this Thanksgiving to feast on turkey, stuffing and the usual fare. But at the kitchen of Park Slope Christian Help in Brooklyn, there was something special on the menu—help for a 33-year-old homeless mother of four.
“I’m just trying to find opportunities,” she said as Kevin, 10, Terrell, 8, Mielle, 6, and Joseph, 3, ate turkey and wrestled as boys often do. Actor Steve Buscemi, star of Boardwalk Empire, volunteered in the kitchen and entertained the boys by juggling oranges.
