Watching the trailer for Larry Crowne, the new Tom Hanks film starring him and Julia Roberts, it seems like there's something we're not seeing. Marketing should just sell the thing to as wide an audience as possible while avoiding the point, right?
What could be Hanks' motivation other than to do a favor for co-writer Nia Vardalos, who surely made him a ton of money with her surprise hit My Big Fat Greek Wedding? Okay, that might be a good enough reason, but both he and Roberts are too big for a small movie like this unless there's really nothing in it... Unlike Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which may be kind of an impressive mess, but is full of effects that people flock to.
